I share my room with my brother because our family can't afford to buy a bigger flat. Real estate in Moscow is very expensive. My parents have their own room, and we all share our living room. We have a large kitchen and a spacious entrance hall.
In my room, there are two beds, two desks, and two chairs for me and my brother. In our living room, there's a large sofa and a couple of armchairs. We spend a lot of time there together, watching TV and talking.
Our bathroom is very comfortable and nice-looking. In our kitchen, we have all modern conveniences, even a dishwasher. There's also a large table with four chairs around it.
There are a lot of parks in the area where we live, and I often ride my bike there. There are also many shopping centres within walking distance. It's a very nice place to live.
- My school.
I'm Sasha. I'm ten years old. I live near Moscow in a large town called Mytishchi. I attend a local secondary school, and I'm in the 3rd grade.
My school is three bus stops from my house, so I go there by bus. Classes begin at 9 o'clock. Every day, we have five lessons. My favourite subjects are maths and art, but I dislike literature and PE. Each lesson lasts 45 minutes. During breaks, we play in the corridor or go to the school cafeteria.
After the first lesson, we have our lunch. Some of my classmates bring their lunch boxes from home, but I go to the school canteen. It's not very expensive, but it's also not very tasty. After classes, I usually play with my friends in the schoolyard, and then we go home.
At home, I have my lunch and do my homework. It takes me around two hours to complete it. Twice a week, I attend a music school where I learn to play the piano.
My best friend, Misha, lives nearby, and we often meet after classes. I visit him, or he visits me because we live very close to each other. In our free time, we like playing soccer and computer games, of course. My mum says it's not good to spend so much time in front of my tablet.
The best time of the year is summer because we have our school holidays that last three months.
- At work.
My dad is an engineer. He works for a small private company and goes to work five days a week. His workday starts at 9 o'clock, so he leaves home at about half past eight and drives to his office. It takes him around 20 minutes to get there. Before leaving home in the morning, he usually has his breakfast with a cup of coffee and a couple of sandwiches.
My dad is an electrical engineer. He works with his colleagues on new construction projects. Lunchtime in his company is from 12:30 to 13:15, and he usually goes to a local cafe. This cafe serves special business lunches that are tasty and inexpensive.
My dad loves his job and often says that it was the right decision to study at university. He spent five years there and graduated with a brilliant degree. He finishes working at around half past five and heads home. On the way home, he picks up my sister from nursery school, and they return home at around 18:15.
When he comes home, he helps my mum with cooking, and we have dinner at around seven in the evening. While enjoying our meals, we exchange our latest news and events. Unfortunately, it's my duty to wash the dishes after dinner, but in any case, I have to do something around the house.
- Shopping.
I'm not a shopaholic, but my wife is. I only go to the shop if we are short on food and need to buy some. I live in a block of flats in Smolensk, and there is a small shop on the ground floor of our house. This is where I usually go shopping.
But my wife likes going into the centre of our city and visiting every shop possible. She could spend half a day hanging out shopping. On weekends, she wants me to accompany her when buying food in the supermarket for the whole week.
We drive to the supermarket, which is about ten minutes away by car. There is a large free parking area there. We spend more than an hour in the supermarket, going from department to department and putting everything in a large trolley. First, we usually buy a lot of fruits and vegetables, then we move to the dairy department to buy milk, butter, cheese, and other dairy products. Next, we buy different types of meat and some sausages. We end up buying bread, rolls, and bagels at the bakery. And, of course, some household items — there is a big choice. We pay at the checkout with a credit card. I usually leave the shop with a headache; it's always like that after half an hour inside any supermarket. But I like visiting the local outdoor market — I never have a headache there.
When we come home, we unpack everything and put most of the food into our fridge. It's quite large and can accommodate everything we buy. Then I try to forget about shopping for the whole week.
- My meals.
I get up early in the morning because I have to be at work by eight o'clock. That's why I usually have a quick breakfast of some cereal with milk, a sandwich, and a cup of coffee with milk or tea.
During the lunch break at work, I go to a local café, where I normally order a salad, vegetable or noodle soup as the first course, and then spaghetti or rice with chicken. I also order apple or orange juice with a small roll. I pay with my credit card and sometimes in cash. We also have a kitchenette in our office, where we have a choice of drinks, a coffee machine, and some snacks.
In the evening, when I return home, I have dinner with my wife and our daughter. My wife likes cooking, but I try to help her a little. It's my duty to wash all the dishes after dinner. For dinner, we quite often have Greek salad, spaghetti with different sauces, and some meat or fish, usually fried.
At weekends, we often visit various cafés and restaurants, which we can afford since our salaries are high. McDonald's isn't my favourite place, but our daughter likes it, so we go there a lot. We usually order cheeseburgers, fries, cheese sauce, and coke. Sometimes we have chicken there. Our daughter also likes their ice cream. These may not be very healthy meals, but we can't resist our kid.
- Health.
I'm a healthy person, but sometimes I get sick. In such cases, I go to the local medical centre or call the doctor home if my temperature is really high and I feel bad.
My GP (general practitioner) asks me about my symptoms. First, he takes my temperature and examines my throat. Then he asks a lot of questions about headache, stomachache, and so on. He also checks my blood pressure and listens to my heart and lungs with a stethoscope. If necessary, he sends me for several tests.
In case of a serious illness, my doctor sends me on medical leave. With a prescription, I go to the local pharmacy to buy some medicine. In case of the flu, I spend around 7-10 days at home, then I have an appointment with my GP again, and only then do I go back to work. There are many drugs you can buy without a prescription, but most antibiotics and serious drugs can only be bought with one.
In case of a very serious illness, you could be taken to a hospital. It's free in Russia, as most people have special insurance. There are also a lot of private medical centres now, and the choice is yours.
I don't like to get sick, so I always wash my hands when coming back home. I also thoroughly wash all the fruit and vegetables I bring from the shop. Recently, we have had a COVID-19 pandemic, and most people wear masks when in public. I guess it saves a lot of lives. The best way to avoid infection in this case is to stay at home.
- My holiday.
We live in Moscow. In our family, we try to go on holiday twice a year. The first time in winter, around Christmas, for about ten days, and then in summer, in July or August, for two weeks.
In winter, we travel to Sochi region or Austria if our visas are still valid, as we like winter sports and alpine skiing. To book our holiday, we do not go to any travel agents. We book everything online. To book tickets, we open the required airline website, find our flights there, and complete the booking by paying with a credit card. The same applies to accommodation; we usually book it on www.booking.com or www.airbnb.com. The first one has many offers from different hotels, and the second one has mostly offers from private people. When flying abroad, we prefer to stay with local families, as it's a good opportunity to speak English a bit.
In summer, we usually book our holidays in Turkey. We fly to Alanya by the Russian airline "Pobeda". We book our tickets in advance as it's much cheaper, and we save some money. In Alanya, we book apartments, as we prefer self-catering. Our friend advised us about this town in Turkey, and we like it. It's not very big, but really green — it's like one large green park. Everything is close to our apart-hotel: beaches, shops, markets, and a very long promenade. The apart-hotel, we book, is located next to Cleopatra's Beach, and the sand is just amazing there. We spend a couple of hours on the beach in the morning and later in the afternoon, as it's very hot during the daytime. The staff at our hotel speak a bit English and German. In the evening, we walk along the beach — up to five kilometres on foot, and it really helps if you need to lose some weight.
- Seasons.
There are four seasons in a year: winter, spring, summer, and autumn (called "fall" in the US).
I live in Lithuania. In winter, there is little snow in our country because of the Atlantic Ocean, but sometimes there is. It's the coldest part of the year. The daytime temperature in February, for example, can sometimes be around minus 20 degrees, but usually it's minus two to three degrees. When possible, I like to go skiing in the forest outside Vilnius; this is my favourite pastime in winter. Of course, we need to wear winter clothes, clean our yard of snow, and so on, but it's just beautiful outside.
Then spring comes. The snow starts melting and finally disappears. The first buds appear on trees, followed by the leaves. I love their light green colour in late May and early June. Then all the flowers and trees begin blooming, creating a paradise of colours.
In summer, my parents take me to the countryside where my grandparents live. They have a large cottage in a small village near Panevėžys. I spend a couple of months there every year, helping my grandparents with gardening and mowing the grass. My parents also take me on holiday with them to Spain for a couple of weeks at the end of August. Usually, we fly to Alicante.
Then autumn comes, and I need to go to school. September can be very warm, and it's even possible to swim in the local river. But sometimes it starts raining at the beginning of September and never stops. I need to wear my raincoat and always take my umbrella with me. Despite this, I love the multitude of colours in the trees; it's just breathtaking. However, this is not my favourite time of the year.
- My friend.
My best friend is Julia. We became friends in our first year of secondary school. We were queuing at the school cafeteria and started talking, and then more and more...
Now we have known each other for more than five years. Julia is a sympathetic and very honest person. She is also very smart and regularly wins various school competitions in maths and chemistry. She tells me she wants to go to medical university and become a doctor. I'm sure she will, as she's a very ambitious girl.
In our free time, we like listening to music, meeting our friends, going to the movies, and sometimes to the theatre or concerts. Our favourite singer is Billie Eilish, who's very popular with our generation. However, I also sometimes listen to the music my dad enjoys: Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Deep Purple, and Carlos Santana.
Unfortunately, we don't have much free time now, as it's our final year at school, and we spend a lot of time preparing for our school-leaving exams and tests. Additionally, Julia recently got a boyfriend, and she spends less time with me. Though we are in the same school, we are in different classes. We still exchange messages and chat a lot on WhatsApp.
This coming weekend, our large group of around ten people is going to the local park for a picnic, and we are planning to have a barbecue with meat and vegetables. We've already made a list of who will buy what.
Unfortunately, we are growing up and will be moving in different directions, possibly to different cities or even countries. But I hope we'll still meet from time to time in the future.
- Her daily routine.
Every morning, Lily wakes up at around 7 am when the sun peeks through her curtains. She stretches, yawns, and gets out of bed. She puts on her slippers and goes to the bathroom to brush her teeth and wash her face. After that, she dresses in her school uniform, which is a blue skirt and a white shirt.
Downstairs in the kitchen, Lily's mother is making breakfast. Lily eats her toast and drinks a glass of milk. She grabs her backpack, says goodbye to her mom, and leaves for school at 8 am.
Lily walks to school with her best friend, Anna. They talk about their homework and what they will play during recess. School starts at 8:30 am, and Lily has four classes every day. Her favourite subjects are English and Science because she loves reading stories and learning about the stars.
At noon, it's time for lunch. Lily has a sandwich, an apple, and a cookie that her mother packed for her. She eats with Anna and their other friends in the school cafeteria. They laugh and share jokes until it's time to go back to class.
After school, Lily walks home with Anna. They sometimes stop at the park to swing on the swings or slide down the slide. When Lily gets home, she has a snack – usually a banana or some crackers.
Then, it's time for homework. Lily sits at her desk and works on her maths problems and writes sentences for her English class. When she finishes, she reads a book or draws some pictures until dinner time.
Dinner is at 7 pm. Lily's family sits together and talks about their day. They have chicken, vegetables, and rice. Lily helps clear the table and then plays with her little brother, Sam.
At 9 pm, Lily has a bath. She puts on her pyjamas and brushes her teeth again. She climbs into bed and her mother reads her a story. By 10 pm, Lily is sleepy. She turns off the light, cuddles her teddy bear, and falls asleep, dreaming about another day full of learning and fun.
- Timmy the Turtle adventures.
Once upon a time, in a clear blue pond, there lives a little turtle named Timmy. Timmy is a happy turtle with a big, green shell. Every day, Timmy loves to swim in the pond and play with his friends.
One sunny morning, Timmy sees a butterfly. The butterfly is colourful and flutters around Timmy. "Hello, butterfly!" Timmy says. "What are you doing today?"
"I am flying around and looking for flowers," the butterfly says. "Do you want to come with me?"
Timmy thinks for a moment. "I cannot fly, but I can swim very well. How about we have a race? You fly and I swim."
The butterfly smiles. "That sounds fun, Timmy! Let's start at the big rock and race to the other side of the pond."
Timmy and the butterfly go to the big rock. "Ready, set, go!" Timmy shouts. The butterfly flies quickly, and Timmy swims as fast as he can. They both enjoy the race very much.
At the end of the race, the butterfly lands on a flower, and Timmy reaches the shore. They both laugh and smile. "You are a great swimmer, Timmy!" says the butterfly.
"And you are a fast flyer!" says Timmy. "Thank you for the race. It is so much fun!"
Later that day, Timmy meets his friend, Sammy the Snail. Sammy is slow but very kind. "Hi, Sammy! I have an idea. Let's play hide and seek."
Sammy nods slowly. "Okay, Timmy. You hide, and I will count to ten."
Timmy hides behind a big tree. Sammy counts, "One, two, three..." Timmy waits quietly. When Sammy finishes counting, he starts to look for Timmy. After a little while, Sammy finds Timmy behind the tree.
"Got you, Timmy!" Sammy says with a smile.
"You are good at this game, Sammy!" Timmy says happily.
As the sun sets, Timmy and his friends gather at the pond. They talk and laugh about their day. Timmy feels very happy. He loves his friends and enjoys every moment with them.
And so, Timmy the Turtle goes to sleep, dreaming of more adventures with his friends.
- Spotty's search for a friend.
Once upon a time, in a cosy little village, there lives a puppy named Spotty. Spotty is a cheerful little pup with big, bright eyes and a tiny wagging tail. He loves to explore the world around him, but what he wants most is a friend to play with.
One sunny morning, Spotty decides to go on an adventure to find a friend. He wiggles his tail excitedly and starts his journey. First, Spotty meets a cat named Whiskers. "Hello! Do you want to be my friend?" Spotty asks. But Whiskers only meows and runs away. Spotty feels a little sad but doesn't give up.
Next, Spotty sees a group of birds chirping in a tree. "Hi there! Can you be my friends?" he calls out. The birds chirp loudly, but they don't understand Spotty's barks. They fly away, leaving Spotty feeling lonely.
As Spotty continues his search, he meets a rabbit named Thumper. "Hello! Will you be my friend?" Spotty asks. Thumper twitches his nose and said, "Sorry, Spotty, but I'm too busy finding carrots." Spotty sighs and keeps walking.
Just when Spotty is about to give up, he hears a soft voice. "Hello! Are you looking for a friend?" Spotty turns around and sees a little puppy named Fluffy. Fluffy had is watching Spotty and wants to help.
"Yes, I am! I look for everywhere, but I can't find a friend," Spotty replies. Fluffy wiggles her tail and says, "I'll be your friend, Spotty! Let's play together." Spotty's eyes light up with joy.
From that day on, Spotty and Fluffy become the best friends. They play together, share their toys, and have many adventures. Spotty is happy because he finally finds the friend he was searching for. And they live happily ever after.
- The friendly panda.
I live in a small house in China with my parents and my sister, Mei. Near our house, there is a beautiful bamboo forest. In this forest lives a very special friend, a friendly panda named Ling.
Ling is not like any other panda. She loves to play with us and always makes us laugh. Ling has soft, fluffy fur that is black and white. Her eyes sparkle like stars, and she always has a big smile on her face.
One sunny morning, Mei and I decide to visit Ling. We bring some bamboo leaves, which are Ling's favourite treat. When we arrive at the edge of the forest, we call out to her, "Ling! Ling! Come here!"
Ling hears our voices and comes running. She gives us a big hug, and we can feel her warmth and love. We sit down on a large rock, and Ling starts to nibble on the bamboo leaves. While she eats, we talk to her. Amazingly, we can understand Ling, even though she does not speak like we do. Ling communicates with us through her actions and expressions.
After Ling finishes her snack, we decide to play a game. We play hide and seek in the bamboo forest. Mei counts to ten while Ling and I hide. I find a cosy spot behind a tall bamboo tree, and Ling hides in the bushes. Mei searches for us, and we try not to giggle. Finally, Mei finds Ling first, and then she finds me. We all laugh and give each other high-fives.
In the afternoon, Ling takes us to her secret spot in the forest. It is a small clearing with a beautiful pond. The water is clear and reflects the sky. We sit by the pond and make up stories about the fish swimming in the water. Ling listens to our stories and nods her head as if she understands every word.
As the sun starts to set, Ling shows us how to make a special bamboo flute. She uses her strong teeth to carve the bamboo, and we follow her instructions. Soon, we all have our own flutes, and we play a sweet melody together. The sound of our music fills the forest, and even the birds join in with their songs.
Before it gets too dark, we say goodbye to Ling. She gives us one last hug and waves as we walk back home. We feel happy and grateful to have such a wonderful friend in Ling.
When we get home, we tell our parents about our adventure with Ling. They smile and say that Ling is a magical panda who brings joy to everyone she meets. We agree and fall asleep with happy hearts, dreaming of our next adventure with Ling.
- The curious piglet.
Once upon a time, in a cosy little farm, there lives a curious piglet named Percy. Percy loves to ask questions. One sunny morning, Percy runs to his mother with a big question on his mind.
"Mother, what do I do with my paws?" Percy asks eagerly.
His mother, a wise and gentle pig, smiles and says, "Well, my dear Percy, your paws are very special. You can use them to dig in the soft soil and find tasty treats like acorns and roots. You can also use them to make friends. You see, when you shake paws with other animals, it's a friendly gesture."
Percy giggles and tries to shake paws with a butterfly, but it flutters away. He then finds a little patch of dirt and starts to dig, uncovering a delicious acorn. "I love my paws, Mother!" Percy squeals in delight.
Later that day, Percy trots back to his mother with another question. "Mother, what do I do with my ears?"
His mother chuckles softly and says, "Your ears are very important, Percy. You can use them to listen to all the wonderful sounds around you. The chirping of birds, the rustling of leaves, and the laughter of your friends. But most importantly, you can use them to hear my voice when I call you for supper."
Percy wiggles his ears and listens carefully. He hears the soft moo of the cows, the clucking of the hens, and even the distant croak of a frog. "I love my ears, Mother!" Percy says happily.
As the sun begins to set, Percy asks his mother one last question. "Mother, what do I do with my eyes?"
His mother, with a loving twinkle in her eye, replies, "Your eyes are your windows to the world, Percy. You can use them to see the beauty around you. The bright blue sky, the green grass, and the colourful flowers. You can also use them to find your way back home and to watch over your friends and family."
Percy looks around and sees the golden sunset painting the sky with shades of orange and pink. He watches the playful dance of fireflies and the gentle sway of the tall grass. "I love my eyes, Mother!" Percy exclaims.
With a content heart, Percy snuggles up to his mother. "Thank you for showing me how special my paws, ears, and eyes are, Mother."
His mother nuzzles him gently and says, "Remember, my dear Percy, you are special in many ways. Always use your senses to explore and enjoy the world around you."
And so, Percy drifts off to sleep, dreaming of all the adventures he will have with his paws, ears, and eyes. And every night, he thanks his mother for her wise and funny answers, knowing that he is a very lucky piglet indeed.
- The lion and the gazelle.
Once upon a time, deep in the heart of the jungle, there lives a majestic lion named Leo. Leo is the king of the jungle, feared and respected by all the animals. One sunny afternoon, Leo roams the jungle in search of his next meal when he spots a small, delicate gazelle named Gina grazing peacefully.
Leo's stomach growls, and he silently creeps closer. Suddenly, Gina looks up and sees the lion approaching. With a quick and clever mind, she decides to use her wit to save herself.
"Good day, mighty King Leo," Gina greets him with a calm voice. "I have heard so many stories about your bravery and wisdom."
Leo, taken aback by her calm demeanour and flattery, pauses for a moment. "What stories have you heard, little one?" he asks, intrigued.
Gina smiles and begins to weave a tale. "I hear that you once save a little bird trapped in a thorny bush, and another time you help an old tortoise cross a swift river. Your kindness and strength are known far and wide."
Leo puffs up his chest with pride. "Indeed, those stories are true. But why do you tell me these tales now?"
Gina looks into Leo's eyes and says, "Because I believe that a king as noble as you has a heart full of compassion. I am just a small gazelle, and harming me will not bring you honour. Instead, let me be your friend, and together we can make the jungle a better place for all."
Leo considers her words, feeling a warmth in his heart that he hasn't felt before. "Tell me more, little gazelle," he says, sitting down beside her.
Gina continues to tell story after story, each one highlighting Leo's potential for greatness and kindness. As she speaks, Leo realizes that he enjoys her company and her clever tales.
Days pass, and Leo and Gina spend more time together, sharing stories and exploring the jungle. Leo teaches Gina how to roar with confidence, and Gina shows Leo the beauty of the small flowers hidden in the underbrush.
One day, Leo asks Gina, "Why did you trust me, even when I wanted to eat you?"
Gina smiles and replies, "I see the goodness in you, Leo. Every creature has a choice, and I believe that you choose to be a king of kindness and wisdom."
Leo feels a deep sense of gratitude and friendship. "You are right, Gina. I choose to be a better king, thanks to you. From now on, you are my advisor and dear friend."
And so, Leo the Lion and Gina the Gazelle become inseparable friends. Together, they bring peace and harmony to the jungle, showing all the animals that true strength lies in kindness and understanding.

- Golden corn.
In a small village in Africa, there lives a cheerful grandpa named Grandpa Timo. Every morning, he strolls to the village market with a smile on his face. He loves the market buzz and always buys six pieces of sweet, golden corn.
Every day, Grandpa Timo’s curious friend, Little Jabu, sees him with those six corns and wonders why he always buys exactly six. So one day, he decides to ask.
"Grandpa Timo, I see you here every day with six pieces of corn. Why do you always buy six and not five or seven?" asks Little Jabu, scratching his head.
Grandpa Timo chuckles and replies, "Well, my young friend, it’s quite simple. My wife and I eat one piece, I share two pieces with my good neighbours, and with the other three, I repay my kindness debt."
Little Jabu blinks in confusion. "Kindness debt? What do you mean?"
Grandpa Timo explains with a twinkle in his eye, "My wife and I enjoy one piece together. I give two pieces to my kind neighbours who help us with chores. And the last three pieces, I give to my lovely grandchildren, who brighten my day with their laughter."
Little Jabu’s face lights up with understanding. "Oh, I see! You spread joy and kindness with your corn."
Grandpa Timo nods, his heart warmed by the wisdom shared. "Exactly, Little Jabu. Sharing is the best way to fill our lives with happiness."
And so, Little Jabu learns a valuable lesson about sharing and kindness from his wise friend, Grandpa Timo. And every day after, he looks forward to seeing Grandpa Timo with his six golden corns, knowing that they are more than just food — they are tokens of love and gratitude.
- The Clever Rooster.
Once upon a time, in a sunny barnyard nestled in the heart of the countryside, there lives a proud and clever rooster named Red. Red, with his bright, fiery feathers, is the leader of the chicken coop and the protector of all the hens.
One fine morning, as the sun paints the sky with golden hues, a sneaky fox named Fiddle sneaks through the tall grass, eyes gleaming with mischief. Fiddle is always hungry and dreams of feasting on the plump hens that cluck and peck around the barnyard.
As Red struts around, keeping watch, he notices a rustling in the bushes. "Aha! That must be Fiddle," he thinks. With a keen sense of duty, Red puffs out his chest and approaches the bush.
"Good morning, Fiddle! What brings you to our peaceful barnyard today?" asks Red, pretending to be friendly.
Fiddle, caught off guard, stammers, "Oh, hello, Red. I, uh, just admire the beauty of this place. The hens look especially plump and juicy—I mean, uh, happy today."
Red narrows his eyes but keeps his composure. "Well, they are very content here, but I must warn you, they are under my protection."
Fiddle’s sly smile widens. "Oh, Red, you misunderstand me. I am merely here to play a little game. How about a race? If I win, I get to, um, spend some time with the hens."
Red, knowing he needs to outsmart Fiddle, hatches a plan. "A race, you say? Very well, but let's add a twist. We will race to the old oak tree at the edge of the barnyard, and we must collect three golden feathers along the way."
Fiddle, always confident in his speed, agrees. "Deal! I will show you my swiftness."
Red signals the start of the race with a loud crow, and off they go! Fiddle dashes ahead, weaving through the grass with lightning speed. Red, however, takes his time, carefully collecting the golden feathers hidden among the flowers.
As Fiddle reaches the oak tree, panting and out of breath, he realizes he has no golden feathers. Meanwhile, Red arrives shortly after, holding three shiny feathers.
"Well, Fiddle, it seems you forgot the most important part of the race," says Red with a chuckle. "The golden feathers are the key to winning."
Fiddle, embarrassed and defeated, grumbles, "You trick me, Red! This is not fair."
Red smiles warmly. "It is fair, Fiddle. You see, in this barnyard, it’s not about speed, but about cleverness and kindness. The hens are my friends, and I protect them with all my heart."
Fiddle, realizing his defeat, slinks away into the bushes, vowing never to underestimate the clever rooster again.
And so, Red returns to the coop, greeted with cheers and clucks of admiration from the hens. He stands tall, knowing he has outwitted the sneaky fox and protected his feathery friends once more.
From that day on, the barnyard remains peaceful and safe, and Red’s cleverness becomes the stuff of legend among all the animals.
- Pip the artist.
Once upon a time, in a cosy little barn, a small piglet named Pip decides to learn how to paint. Pip feels excited and dreams about creating beautiful masterpieces. He gathers his paints, brushes, and a blank canvas, ready to start his artistic journey.
Pip dips his brush into a bright red paint and tries to paint an apple. However, the shape looks more like a lumpy potato than an apple. Pip frowns and scratches his head. He tries again with blue paint, attempting to create a sky, but it ends up looking like a blue puddle.
Feeling frustrated, Pip sighs and looks around the barn. Just then, his best friend, a little spotty puppy named Patches, trots in. Patches notices Pip's sad face and asks, "What's wrong, Pip?"
"I want to paint, but I can't seem to get it right," Pip says with a pout.
Patches thinks for a moment and then gets an idea. "Why don't you try using different colours together? Maybe it will make your paintings look more interesting!"
Pip nods and decides to give it a try. He mixes some red and yellow paint to create a vibrant orange. With newfound enthusiasm, he paints a lively sun on the canvas. Next, he combines blue and green to create a beautiful turquoise colour, painting the grass and trees.
As Pip experiments with different colours, his paintings start to look more lively and creative. He paints a friendly cow with purple spots and a chicken with a rainbow of feathers. Patches cheers him on, wagging his tail with excitement.
Suddenly, something magical happens. The characters in Pip's paintings start to move! The purple-spotted cow steps out of the canvas, followed by the rainbow-feathered chicken. They come to life right before Pip and Patches' eyes.
The cow gives a cheerful "Moo!" and the chicken clucks happily. Pip and Patches can't believe their eyes. The barn is now filled with colourful, animated characters from Pip's paintings.
"Let's have a party!" Patches suggests, wagging his tail even faster.
Pip agrees, and they gather all the painted characters for a grand celebration. They dance, sing, and play games together. The barn becomes a lively, vibrant place filled with laughter and joy.

- April fool's day.
Once upon a time in a cosy little forest, there lived a very clever squirrel named Sammy. Sammy loved to play tricks on his friends. And there was no better day to do that than on April Fool's Day!
April Fool's Day was coming soon, and Sammy wanted to come up with the best trick ever. He thought and thought until he finally had a brilliant idea. He would pretend to be a talking tree!
The day before April Fool's Day, Sammy went to his friend, Woody the Woodpecker, and asked for help. "Woody, can you carve a small hole in that big oak tree over there? I have a plan for April Fool's Day!" Woody agreed and pecked a small hole just big enough for Sammy to stick his head through.
The next morning, as the sun rose over the forest, Sammy climbed into the oak tree and stuck his head through the hole. He waited until his friends gathered around the tree, wondering what Sammy was up to. Suddenly, Sammy spoke in a deep, tree-like voice, "Hello, friends! I am the magical talking tree!"
The animals were amazed! Bella the Bunny, Timmy the Turtle, and Ricky the Raccoon all gasped in surprise. "A talking tree? How can this be?" they exclaimed.
Sammy, trying to keep his voice serious, said, "Yes, I can talk! I will answer any question you have. Just ask, and I will tell you the truth."
Bella the Bunny hopped forward and asked, "Mr. Tree, where can I find the juiciest carrots in the forest?" Sammy, knowing Bella's favourite carrot patch, replied, "Go to the meadow near the big rock. You will find the best carrots there."
Next, Timmy the Turtle asked, "Mr. Tree, will I ever be the fastest turtle in the forest?" Sammy chuckled to himself and answered, "If you practice every day and believe in yourself, you will be the fastest turtle one day!"
Finally, Ricky the Raccoon asked, "Mr. Tree, can you tell me a secret about the forest?" Sammy paused and thought for a moment before saying, "There is a hidden treasure buried near the old pine tree. If you dig carefully, you might find it!"
The animals were so excited and grateful to the talking tree. But then, Woody the Woodpecker couldn't hold back his laughter any more. He shouted, "April Fool's! It's Sammy the Squirrel behind the trick!"
The animals were shocked but then burst into laughter. "Sammy, you got us good!" Bella the Bunny said. "That was the best April Fool's prank ever!" Timmy the Turtle added.
From that day on, the animals always remembered the time when the magical talking tree visited their forest on April Fool's Day. And Sammy the Squirrel became famous for his clever tricks, always bringing fun and laughter to his friends.
- Lily's great Easter egg hunt.
In a peaceful village, there lived a little girl named Lily. Easter was her favourite time of the year because of the Great Easter Egg Hunt. Every year, the village held a special event where children would search for colourful eggs hidden all around the village.
This year, Lily was determined to find the Golden Egg. It was said that whoever found the Golden Egg would receive a special prize. The day before Easter, Lily's grandmother, Granny Rose, told her a secret. "Lily, I have hidden the Golden Egg somewhere very special. Keep your eyes open and remember, the best treasures are found when you least expect them."
On Easter morning, Lily woke up early, put on her best dress, and grabbed her basket. She met her friends, Tommy and Emma, in the village square, and they set off on the hunt together.
As they searched high and low, Lily remembered Granny Rose's words. They looked in the park, under the benches, and around the flower beds, but there was no sign of the Golden Egg. They found many colourful eggs filled with candies and small toys, but not the one they were looking for.
Just when they were about to give up, Lily saw something shiny in the distance. It was near the old oak tree by the river. Her heart skipped a beat as she ran towards it. But when she got there, she realized it was just a piece of tinfoil from someone's picnic. Disappointed, she sat down under the tree to rest.
Suddenly, she heard a rustling sound above her. Lily looked up and saw a bird's nest. Could the Golden Egg be up there? She carefully climbed the tree, and as she peeked into the nest, she saw not one, but three beautiful eggs. They weren't golden, but they were painted with lovely patterns. Lily knew she couldn't take the bird's eggs, so she climbed back down.
Feeling a bit sad, she decided to head back to the village square. As she walked, she noticed something she hadn't seen before. In the middle of a patch of flowers, there was a small, shiny object half-buried in the soil. She rushed over and gently dug it out. To her surprise and delight, it was the Golden Egg!
Lily couldn't believe her luck. She ran to the village square, where Granny Rose was waiting. "Granny, I found the Golden Egg!" she exclaimed, holding it up for everyone to see.
Granny Rose smiled warmly and said, "I knew you would, Lily. You never gave up and kept looking, even when it seemed impossible. That's the true spirit of Easter."
As a special prize, Granny Rose gave Lily a beautifully decorated Easter basket filled with chocolates, toys, and a small bunny plushie. But more than the prize, Lily felt proud and happy because she had persevered and found the Golden Egg.
From that day on, Lily always remembered the lesson she learned on Easter: sometimes, the best treasures are found when you keep your eyes open and never give up hope.
- The Tower and the Ravenmaster.
Once upon a time in the heart of London, there stood a grand old castle called the Tower of London. This castle wasn't just any castle; it was famous for its strong walls, tall towers, and a funny bunch of birds called ravens.
You see, there was a legend that said if the ravens ever left the Tower, the kingdom would fall. So, a wise old man named Mr. Collins, the Ravenmaster, took care of them. He fed them, talked to them, and even gave them names like Jack, Jill, Fred, and Millie.
One sunny morning, Mr. Collins was getting ready to feed the ravens. He had a big bag of their favourite snacks—juicy meat bits and shiny nuts. As he walked to the big yard inside the Tower, he heard some strange giggles and whispers. Curious, he peeked around the corner and saw something that made him laugh out loud.
Fred, the cleverest raven, had found a shiny spoon and was using it to dig a tiny hole in the ground. Millie, the smallest raven, was hopping around with a tiny crown made of flowers on her head, pretending to be the Raven Queen. Jack and Jill were playing a funny game of tag, flapping their wings and chasing each other around the ancient stones.
Mr. Collins clapped his hands and called out, “Time for breakfast, you funny bunch!” The ravens squawked happily and flew over to him, ready to eat. As they munched on their tasty treats, Mr. Collins told them a story about the castle's history.
"Once, a long time ago, brave knights and wise queens lived here," he began. "There were secret tunnels, hidden treasures, and even a royal zoo with exotic animals!"
The ravens listened with wide eyes, their feathers puffed up in excitement. They loved Mr. Collins' stories, especially the funny ones. Fred chirped, "Did the knights ever have a raven as a pet?"
Mr. Collins chuckled, "Well, not exactly. But there was a knight who had a pet pigeon named Percy. Percy was a bit clumsy and always got into trouble. One day, he flew right into the royal banquet and landed in the king's pudding! Everyone laughed, and from that day on, Percy was known as 'Pudding Percy.'"
The ravens cawed with laughter, imagining the funny pigeon in the pudding. Millie, still wearing her flower crown, fluffed her feathers and said, "I think we ravens are much smarter than Percy."
Mr. Collins smiled and nodded. "Indeed you are, Millie. You are the guardians of the Tower, and without you, this place wouldn't be the same."
As the day went on, the ravens played and explored, always keeping an eye on their beloved Tower. They knew their job was important, and they took it seriously, even if they had a little fun along the way.
And so, the Tower of London remained safe and sound, guarded by the clever, brave, and ever-so-funny ravens. And if you ever visit, be sure to look for Fred, Millie, Jack, and Jill. They’ll be watching over the Tower, just like they always have.
